Taryne Shinnimin - Faculty
Taryne is a valued member of the WDF faculty and has been dancing for 12 years in various disciplines including jazz, tap, ballet, pointe, modern, lyrical, hip-hop, and musical theatre.
Taryne is proudly a former student of WDF's competitive program!
She began at Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet where she completed many ADAPT jazz and tap exams receiving Highly Commended Plus (the highest mark awarded). Taryne has also completed several ballet exams from the Cecchietti syllabus and most recently her intermediate Ballet Examination from the Royal Academy of Dance. She was selected to perform with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company in the traditional Christmas performance of The Nutcracker in both 2002 and 2005.
Taryne has participated in many workshops, conventions, and competitions throughout Canada and the U.S., winning numerous awards. Most notably: The 2010 Stars of Tomorrow winner and the 2005 Kids Quest Talent Search winner at the Red River Exhibition, the recipient of the 2008 and 2010 Senior Convention Scholarship from LA Dance Extreme, several LA Dance Magic Convention Scholarships, and she is the recipient of LA dance Magic’s Final Cut Summer Intensive in Los Angeles. Taryne was selected as the 2010 protege for the iDance Convention and for the 2010 Paris Summer Dance Tour intensive with guest of honour: Tara-Jean Popowich, winner of “So You Think You Can Dance Canada” (season 2).
She has won several Gold Honours Awards at the Manitoba Dance Festival and the Canadian National Dance Championships. She was the recipient of the Junior and Senior Jazz Scholarships at the Manitoba Dance Festival in 2006 and 2010. Taryne continues to train in all disciplines of dance to further her dance education. She is excited to be teaching and to be a member of the WDF faculty!
