In addition to teaching and choreographing, Mr. Huck handles many aspects of the business affairs of WDF - amongst them: accounting, administration, faculty resources, online resources, website design, music editing, advertising, branding, set/prop building, audio/visual creation, office management, producing, stage managing, payroll, and more. He is a performer, choreographer, director, and producer of notable professional achievement, and helps to facilitate fundraising initiatives for competitive dancers at WDF. (WDFFC President). Peter also adjudicates nationally and has done so for several dance competitions and festivals.
As well as running the studio full-time, most recently, Peter appeared in the 62nd season of Rainbow Stage (Canada's longest running outdoor theatre) season as Lord Farquaad in SHREK - The Musical to critical acclaim. He appeared in Rainbow Stage's 61st season as Bernardo in West Side Story, as Joey in Sister Act, and was the Artist In Residence (Choreographer) for Rainbow Stage's 60th anniversary season choreographing for "Patsy Cline" and associating for "The Producers", and North American Premiere of Disney's "The Little Mermaid". Winnipeg audiences would also recognize him as Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, Danny Zuko in Grease, as Corny Collins in Hairspray (to name a few), all mounted in the last decade at Rainbow Stage. He also recently appeared in Billy Elliot at the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre. (The most sold out show at RMTC in 52 years of theatre production). He performed the role of Sweeney Todd for Dry Cold Productions in 2012, and has made several appearances on HBO Canada’s award winning “Less Than Kind”.
Peter holds a B.F.A in Musical Theatre from the critically acclaimed College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati where he was the recipient of the Patricia Corbett Scholarship Award for Academic Achievement from 1996-1999, and a Diploma in Theatrical Arts (Fine Arts) from Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton, AB. (Majored in Voice, Dance, Acting).
Peter is a member of the Canadian Actor’s Equity Association (CAEA), a member of the Alliance of Canadian Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA/UBCP). Peter is a certified Actor-Combatant and has trained as a Stuntman with the United Stuntman’s Association of America. He brings over 25 years of professional experience in the arts to WDF.
Peter has choreographed for several film productions (“Reefer Madness”, Showtime; “The Room At The End Of The Hall”, Insight) and has worked extensively in film production. He has performed on Broadway (Radio City Music Hall), off Broadway (Papermill Playhouse), in large-scale commercial theatre (The Lord of The Rings, Mirvish), and regionally across Canada and the United States in well over a hundred professional productions. As a Producer/Director, Peter is the recipient of a 2005 Ovation Award for his “Outstanding Contribution to Vancouver’s Musical Theatre Community” for “September in the Cathedral with Sondheim” which brought together over 100 performing artists from across the country to present selections from composer Stephen Sondheim’s entire repertoire. In 2007, he produced and directed “Into the Woods” by Stephen Sondheim to critical acclaim, and his production of “Sondheim in September” in Toronto, made it into What’s Now Magazine’s top 10 productions in Canada of 2009. In total, his producing efforts have raised $35,000 for theatrical charities.
